RIO DE JANEIRO Nico Hischier Womens Jersey , June 20 (Xinhua) -- Rio de Janeiro's famed carnival will have to be scaled down after the city said belt-tightening measures would slash 4 million U.S. dollars from the 2018 carnival budget, officials said Tuesday.


Jorge Castanheira, president of the Independent League of the Special Group Samba Schools, told a press conference that without the money, the city's world famous carnival celebrations will have to be downsized.


Castanheira said he was calling on Marcelo Alves Adidas Taylor Hall Jersey , president of the city's tourism company Riotur, to help raise funds from private sources.


One strategy is to sell advertising space at the sambadrome, the venue that hosts the competing samba schools during the carnival, Alves said.

BERLIN, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday reacted with dismay to weekend far-right violence and racism in the U.S.


The event stood "in complete contrast to everything which the chancellor and the entire (German) Federal government are working towards", Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin.


"Those were absolutely repulsive scenes which were witnessed during this far-right march Adidas Nico Hischier Jersey ," he added.


By voicing such outspoken concern through her speaker, the German chancellor has gone far beyond U.S. President Donald Trump, who has so far failed to directly criticize far-right violence.

A rally staged by white nationalists in Charlottesville turned violent Saturday. OUAGADOUGOU, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- A group of gunmen attacked a Turkish restaurant in the center of the capital Burkina Faso on Sunday evening, leaving at least 17 dead and eight others injured, according to a government statement.


Authorities said the shooting broke out at the restaurant located on the Nkrumah Avenue in downtown Ouagadougou around 9 p.m. local time (2100 GMT). Security forces were dispatched to the scene and blocked the neighborhood.


Policemen were then engaged in a firefight with the attackers. Nearby residents were quoted by local reports as saying that gunshots and explosions were continuously heard.p The nationalities of the dead remain unclear, the statement said.
