The accident happened on Saturday evening and the two victims, aged 21 and 46, were taken to the Sierallana and Vialdecilla hospitals, but later died of their injuries.


A third person was also evacuated with serious injuries.


The accident happened when a car participating in the third edition of the race, lost control on a corner linking a rural road Kúpit Panske Nike Shox OZ D Cierne , which was part of the route, with the main CA-322 road in the town of Mogro.


As well as the two victims and the third person who was evacuated, a further six person suffered light injuries and were attended to emergency services at the scene of the accident.
