Many European countries present an attractive destination for that annual holiday. Countries that boast a Mediterranean shoreline and superb weather could on any other year prove to have everything going for them but not in 2012 when the Olympic Games are going to London Thiago Alcantara Trikot , England and maybe that’s the vacation spot for a summer vacation with a difference.
What could possibly be more exciting that holidaying in one of the worlds most unique capital cities, home of Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the Queen, Princess Diana, Leicester Sq., Piccadilly Circus and so much more? This city of culture has so much to offer and has never been so tourist-friendly and ready to look after it鈥檚 tourists.
The London Olympics will take place next July and August and will principally be centred on the Olympic Village in London’s famous East End. In the event you are feeling adventurous, you’ll be able to plan a vacation to take in not just the Olympics, but the whole UK too. Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales all make for lovely day trips or week 2 destinations and journey across the United Kingdom is easy and cheap.
There’s a lot to do; generally it鈥檚 tough to know where to start. Here鈥檚 our dream Itinerary;
Week One Choose an airline like British Airways and fly in to London Heathrow or Gatwick. You’ll be able to either stay in a hotel, or lease a local property from a web site like London Games Rentals. Be careful to book this part of your trip early though as the Olympics will entice many more visitors to London than normal and accommodation will be scarce, particularly after the Easter break. Some business insiders are forecasting a further 500,000 visitors to London as a direct results of the games and that鈥檚 on top of the normal increase in tourism at this time of the year. Factor in the weak pound and it will be busy. Perform a little research in to where the varied Olympic events are actually being held as sports such as soccer, sailing and shooting are not going to be hosted in the Olympic Village.
Spend the first week following the Olympic events and visiting London. The atmosphere will probably be electric and there’s a lot to do.
Try the popular haunts such as Madam Tussauds and the London Eye, visit the free museums and gallaries such as the Science museum, the Natural History museum or Tate Modern.
Week Two What鈥檚 special about London is that鈥檚 it鈥檚 ideally situated to do plenty of other things. We would recommend in the second week that you rent a car and go see Great Britain. Attempt to end up at a different departure airport, say Edinburgh or Dublin to provide you a better likelihood to see everything. Our journey would begin with Brighton, positioned on the South coast of England. Brighton is a wonderful English Victorian seaside town that boasts its own pier and amusement area.
Next day a 3 hour journey, by way of Stonehenge to Bath to see this beautiful old town. Famous for its Roman Spa and Old World feel, a trip to Bath won’t ever be forgotten. Stay for a few days and get used to the West Country’s way of life, it is a slower paced, and remarkably soothing. Be sure you take a day trip to Wales and use the old Severn Bridge.
Finally, we’d advocate ending in the lovely city of Edinburgh, home of the Scottish parliament, and of course Edinburgh castle. Fly out from Edinburgh airport and you’ll have had probably the most amazing holiday, and seen the best show on Earth – The London Olympics 2012.
