He said the Slovak government has managed to improve the functioning of the state as well as restore public finances in a sustainable way.


"I'm particularly pleased that in 2013 we have achieved these results, because last year was a very difficult one for Slovakia and for the European economy as a whole J.T. According to him, release from EDP -- expected to take place at a meeting of European finance ministers in early July -- will mean Slovakia won't have to pay a fine of 0.2 percent of GDP, or about 150 million euros (203 million dollars).


"In the past few months Slovakia has enjoyed access to record low-interest loans for financing its debt. Staying in this procedure would mean an increase in spending on the state's debt servicing. Slovakia paid too much on being released from EDP. Opposition sees it from different angle on view.


"The price for being released from EDP is high and has been paid by all citizens. The excessive borrowing continues," said opposition party SDKU-DS chairman Pavol Freso.


According to Freso, the gross public debt of Slovakia has reached 55.4 percent which has activated the debt-brake alert Brady Skjei Womens Jersey , meaning that next year spending both at the national and now also at the municipal level can't increase.


"The citizens will thus also be affected by Government's mismanagement at the municipal level," added Freso.


Slovakia is on course to be released from the EDP, and that shouldn't be reversed either by the changed methodology for monitoring economic growth, which will apply as of this fall.


As Kazimir explained Rick Nash Womens Jersey , for the purposes of the excessive deficit assessment the methodology that is in keeping with the European System of National and Regional Accounts (ESA 95) will be used.


"This means that no numbers for 2013 arrived at with a new methodology will affect the EDP," stressed Kazimir.


Slovakia joined EDP in 2009, when the deficit reached 8 percent of GDP.


The European Commission on Monday recommended that the EU Council of Ministers close the EDP for six countries: Austria, Belgium David Desharnais Womens Jersey , Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands and Slovakia.


Currently there is an EDP ongoing for 17 EU member states. If the Council follows the Commission's recommendations, the overall number of countries in EDP will drop to 11.
