Turnover filled night plagues Saints as they lose to the Cardinals NEW ORLEANS — Preseason Week 2 for Sean Payton and the Saints didn’t start off well New Orleans Saints Hats , and it was a huge reason the team lost to the Cardinals on Friday night. Hill and company a chance to make something happen to open the game. Brandon Tate got things going with a good 40-yard kick return to put the Saints at their own 37-yard-line. Hill had a good looking drive going until he was picked off from a tipped pass intended for Cameron Meredith — it was a ball that should have been caught. Hill also had a wide open Michael Thomas that he couldn’t connect with because the pass was too high. Jonathan Williams and Mark Ingram looked good on the ground. The turnover didn’t hurt the team, as the Saints defense would force a 3-and-out on the ensuing possession with Sam Bradford at the helm. Demario Davis made a great play from the first snap by dropping David Johnson for a 1-yard loss. Hill’s next offensive drive struck disaster after some strong rushes from Ingram and Williams, as he fumbled the ball after taking the snap, turning it back over to the Cardinals. The Saints defense would once again force the Cardinals offense off the field quickly, but their offense had a drive that resulted in them going backwards to bring in the first Thomas Morstead punt of the night. The Cardinals would take advantage this time, getting on the board first after a 6-play, 61-yard drive that was capped off by a 9-yard rushing touchdown by David Johnson. If you can believe it, Taysom Hill turned the ball over again on the ensuing possession on the second play. Hill tried to hit Ted Ginn Jr. deep, but overthrew him and had it intercepted by Bene Benwikere. The Cardinals would once again cash in, this time with Josh Rosen leading the charge, going 87 yards in 7 plays that finished with a Rosen to Christian Kirk touchdown pass. The Saints got penalized for 45 yards on the drive, which included a questionable roughing the passer call on Trey Hendrickson and a big pass interference penalty from J.T. Gray.New Orleans finally got on the board after Taysom Hill scrambled for a 43-yard gain on a 3rd and 9, but the Saints went backwards after first down and settled for a 52-yard Wil Lutz field goal to trim the Cardinals lead to 14-3. The Cardinals ended up adding another field goal to extend their lead, and it looked like Hill was going to finally get the Saints into the end zone (again), but had his fourth turnover of the night after fumbling it away. The team did catch a break at the end of the half with a Phil Dawson missed 46-yard field goal.Entering the second half, the Cardinals weren’t able to do too much on the opening drive New Orleans Saints Hoodie , and it was Tom Savage time. Unfortunately, it ended in near disaster when Savage was stripped on a 3rd down play. Thankfully, the Saints would recover at their own 1-yard line. The Cardinals would take advantage of the shorter field and end up extending their lead to 20-3 after a 53-yard field goal from Matthew McCrane.Savage was finally able to pilot a good looking Saints drive, but wasn’t able to finish. On a 3rd and goal play, Savage was blindsided by a Cardinals defender and took a sack. Somehow, he held onto the ball. Most of the filler into late fourth quarter saw punts, but the Saints were able to add another field goal to make it 20-6.Rookie J.T. Barrett took over with about six minutes to play in the game, and was able to get the Saints moving on an 8-play, 50-yard drive that was finished off by a 37-yard field goal by Wil Lutz to make it 20-9. Barrett would add a very late touchdown via a 12-yard scramble and then have a failed two-point conversion to make it 20-15. Not spotted during warmups included Marcus Davenport, Alex Okafor, Michael Hoomanawanui, P.J. Williams, and Landon Turner. Cameron Jordan, Alvin Kamara, and Drew Brees were also among those players that did not play. The Saints will look to put this loss behind them quickly and focus on their nationally televised prime time game against the Chargers on Saturday.Want to voice your opinion more for the black and gold? A look at some key fantasy football questions for Week 12:WHICH UNDER THE RADAR PLAYERS HAVE THE BEST CHANCE FOR A BIG GAME THIS WEEK?The Buccaneers have given up multiple passing TDs to QBs in eight of their 10 games this season, giving 49ers QB Nick Mullens an opportunity this week. Browns QB Baker Mayfield has thrown for nine TDs and just two INTs in his last four games and takes on the Bengals, who have given up the second most total TDs and the second-most fantasy points per game (FPPG) to the QB position. The Eagles may have been using a running back by committee approach this season Youth Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , but Josh Adams' snaps have been on the rise and he is averaging 7 yards per carry over his past three games. He takes on the Giants in Week 12, and they've given up the eighth most FPPG to RBs.Giants WR Sterling Shepard has averaged just over six catches and 84 receiving yards and has scored four TDs in five games against the Eagles in his young career. The Eagles pass defense has been decimated by injuries and has given up the second-most FPPG to WRs.With Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, Cameron Brate should see an uptick in targets. QB Jameis Winston, who is starting for the Bucs again, likes to throw to his TEs.IS RAVENS RB GUS EDWARDS A VIABLE STARTER GOING FORWARD?We recommended Ravens RB Alex Collins as a sneaky play last week due to his favorable matchup against the Bengals. Well, we were partially right: The Bengals are bad at defending against the run, but it was Edwards (who?!) 鈥?not Collins 鈥?who took advantage of Cincinnati's run defense. Collins hasn't done much to convince the Ravens that he deserves to be their top RB this season. Edwards is an undrafted free agent who had an unremarkable college career at Miami and Rutgers, but he deserves more playing time than Collins for at least another week.Edwards faces the Raiders this week, and they've given up 11 total TDs to RBs this season. From there, his next three opponents are top 6 in FPPG to RBs. In addition, if the Ravens continue to start Lamar Jackson at QB, expect them to run the ball often, providing Edwards plenty of opportunities. Opportunity doesn't always translate into fantasy production and we can't guarantee that Edwards will rush for another 115 yards and score a TD in Week 12, but you can put him in your lineup this week based on his favorable matchup. Take it one game at a time for now.WHICH QB HAS MORE FANTASY VALUE ON A WEEK TO WEEK BASIS, BALTIMORE'S LAMAR JACKSON OR WASHINGTON'S COLT MCCOY?If the Ravens continue to start Jackson over Joe Flacco, he has more fantasy upside than McCoy. Jackson has a very favorable schedule going forward, with three of his next four opponents top five in FPPG allowed to QBs www.thesaintsfootballauthentic.com , and the other giving up the 12th-most FPPG to the position. Based on his first start, the Ravens may limit the amount of throws he makes until he grows into the job, but his ability to run (he has rushed for 117 yards) will likely provide a steady stream of fantasy points.McCoy may not be the worst backup QB, but a large chunk of his supporting cast (Jamison Crowder, Chris Thompson and Josh Doctson) have been dealing with injuries all season long.CAN TOM BRADY TURN HIS SEASON AROUND?Tom Brady is QB14 in terms of total fantasy points. That's not what you expected when you drafted him this preseason, considering he was the overall QB2 last season. Although he's 41 years old, you never should count Brady out. His peripheral stats are right about where they've always been and at 7-3, the Patriots are poised to win the AFC East again. The Pats don't care about your fantasy team and never will. Brady has produced year after year and even weathered the storm when Julian Edelman, his favorite receiver, missed the 2017 season due to injury. It's been a different kind of year for Brady. When Sony Michel was healthy, New England was running the ball a lot more. That hurt Brady's fantasy stats. Perhaps the drop in Brady's fantasy production is directly tied to TE Rob Gronkowski's injury woes. The Pats are still winning and if Gronkowski can come back healthy after the bye, there's a good chance we'll see the Brady refocus, as he always seems to do when the stretch toward playoffs comes around.D.J. MOORE, TRE'QUAN SMITH AND CHRISTIAN KIRK HAVE ALL BEEN COMING ON AS OF LATE. WHICH ROOKIE WR CAN YOU TRUST AT THIS CRUCIAL PART OF THE FANTASY FOOTBALL SEASON?All three rookie wideouts have a great deal of upside and are getting better as the season progresses. Although it's tough to like much about the Cardinals after they lost to the Raiders in Week 11, Christian Kirk has been the most consistent WR of the rookie trio. He's averaged six targets and just over 52 receiving yards over his past five games. Smith's season has been all over the place. He's had monster games and games where he wasn't even targeted. Moore has also been inconsistent. Custom New Orleans Saints Jerseys
