Sky Sports commentator Richard Kaufman reflects on an intriguing week at the inaugural Maybank Championship Malaysia, where a number of youngsters rose to prominence before Marcus Fraser snatched a dramatic win. The hours for watching many of the co-sanctioned events on the European Tour schedule over the coming weeks may mean some unsociable hours watching television or some good use of your Sky Plus, but they are always good for keeping up to date with the games emerging talent.Im sure not many of you would have been aware of Soomin Lee and Miguel Tabuena before the start of the Maybank Championship Malaysia and although ultimately neither player won, they both made their mark in Kuala Lumpur. Miguel Tabuena finished in a share of second I actually first met Miguel when he was just 15 and playing in China, where he picked up a silver medal at the 2010 Asian Games. He turned pro soon after and although there were some last day collapses and he even lost his Asian Tour card at one point, it was clear he had real talent. But over the last six months, the boy has turned into a man. Hes added distance off the tee and, after winning on the Asian Tour in December and mixing it with Jordan Spieth in Singapore in January, hes shown he is now ready to compete with the best. Soomin Lee had the tournament in his grasp, but two late double-bogeys cost him his first win While Miguel will be buoyant about finishing tied for second, Lee would have struggled to sleep on Sunday night. Two double-bogeys in the final three holes when the tournament was within his grasp will take some recovering from. Its only natural that a young guy playing in just his second European Tour event and leading for almost the entire day may suffer an attack of nerves. Hopefully in time hell see the positives because there were plenty for the Korean, such as sitting 17th on the Race to Dubai with over 200,000 euros of winnings. Marcus Fraser benefitted from Lees mistakes to pick up his third European Tour win Naturally, you have to give credit to Marcus Fraser for making the most of Lees late mishaps. I didnt think Marcus was playing his best golf tee to green over the weekend, but his short game was outstanding. His final scramble of the day at the 72nd hole gave him a long-overdue third European Tour title. All that hard work, battling back from injuries paid off big time.Fraser now heads to Perth along with the likes of Louis Oosthuizen and Victor Dubuisson for another co-sanctioned event, this time with both the Asian Tour and the PGA of Australia. Stay up late or get up early, there may be another new kid on the block or two to watch out for. Kuznetsov, who was selected by the Capitals in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has been playing for his hometown team Chelyabinsk Traktor of the KHL. BOSTON -- Just when the Bruins were playing some of their best defense of the season, they lose their No. 1 defenseman to an injury.Captain Zdeno Chara left with an unspecified injury after taking one shift in the second period during the Bruins 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. He did not join the Bruins on Wednesday for their flight to Ottawa to face the Senators on Thursday, and Claude Julien said the 2009 Norris Trophy winner was doubtful for Calgary on Friday.Chara has one goal and five assists in 19 games this season. His team-high 22:41 of ice time per game will also be difficult to replace. We just lost our best defender and teams hate playing against him, and thats the kind of impact hes got, Julien said. Now theres no individual thats going to step up and do his job more than were going to have to do it as a group. The Bruins received some positive news Wednesday, as defenseman Kevan Miller, who has missed the start of the season after fracturing his left hand, and forward David Pastrnak, who leads the Bruins with 10 goals, were cleared to play against Ottawa. Pastrnak had missed three games with an undisclosed injury. Both Miller and Pastrnak practiced on Wednesday. The Bruins have won four of their past six and eight of their past 12 games. Prior to their loss to the Blues, the Bruins had allowed two or fewer goals in five straight games, including four wwins.ddddddddddddHaving Chara out of the lineup will put the onus not just on the defensemen, but the rest of the team to keep the opposition off the scoreboard.I think everybody together as a group has really come together and embraced our identity and the style of play that we want to emphasize and I think thats one of the reasons weve had success, defenseman John-Michael Liles said.Losing Z is a big loss, but I think if we continue to play the style that weve really focused on the last little while, I think we can continue to have success. When the Bruins were without Chara because of a torn knee ligament during the 2014-15 season, they went 11-7-1.This time they will rely upon veterans such as Liles, Torey Krug and Adam McQuaid. Nineteen-year-old Brandon Carlo has thrived as Charas regular defense partner this season, and the rookie will have to figure out how to play without the captain.Carlo has two goals and two assists in 19 games and has averaged just 20 fewer seconds per game than Chara.Hes a pretty good player anyway, and he can still play in this league without Zdeno, Julien said. When youre missing your No. 1 defenseman, when youre playing with him, theres no doubt it affects you. But hes still a good enough player to overcome that. ' ' '
