SYDNEY -- Andreas Mikkelsen held off Sebastien Ogier to win the Rally of Australia by 14.9 seconds on Sunday, giving Volkswagen a victory in its final race in the World Rally Championship.Norways Mikkelsen started the final day of the rally with a narrow two-second lead over his Volkswagen teammate, who was recently crowned the world drivers champion for the fourth straight year.Ogier closed the gap to just 0.3 seconds at the midpoint of the dusty Bucca stage, the second of five stages on the final day. But the Frenchman then spun his Volkswagon Rolo R near the finish and completed the stage 19.6 seconds slower than Mikkelsen, giving the Norwegian a commanding overall lead.Mikkelsen began the rally in third place in the drivers standings behind Ogier and Belgiums Thierry Neuville, hoping a win would lift him into second place and give Volkswagen its fourth consecutive one-two finish in its final championship. The company has said it will not compete in WRC again after this season. But Neuville, driving a Hyundai, finished the race in third place, ensuring hed remain in second overall in the drivers standings. The plan was to try and win the power stage because I would like to try and beat Thierry for that second place, but Im still happy about this, Mikkelsen said. Its been such a perfect end to the season ... Its just sad to see this team and the car come to an end. I will miss them.Ogier and Mikkelsen now find themselves looking for new cars for next season, likely putting pressure on drivers on other teams.Mikkelsen dominated Volkswagons final rally, leading after all but one stage and overcoming a bizarre incident on the second day when his clutch and brake pedal became wedged together. The race was also delayed on the 21st stage for almost a half hour when Eric Camilli rolled his Ford onto its roof, causing a fire to break out in the car. He retired from the stage but appeared unhurt. Air Jordan 5 Australia .5 million, one-year contract on Friday. With no Gary Ablett, Nathan Fyfe or Matthew Pavlich, AFL fans at Metricon Stadium on Saturday could be forgiven for turning their attention towards catching a few Pokemon instead.Gold Coast and Fremantle are both decimated by injury and will scrape together hugely undermanned teams for a clash that will have no real bearing on the ladder, the season or either teams general outlook. Both sides have been stripped of star power with the Suns missing their six best midfielders - Ablett (shoulder), Michael Rischitelli, Dion Prestia, David Swallow, Jaeger OMeara (knee) and Aaron Hall (hamstring) - while the Dockers have rested veteran Matthew Pavlich, and have been minus Brownlow medallist Nathan Fyfe (broken leg) for most of the year.In fact, a team made up of those unavailable for Gold Coast and Fremantle this weekend would probably beat both sides in their present forms quite comfortably.Perhaps to give supporters a reason to bother turning up, the Suns will stage a Pokemon Go-themed event at Carrara, promising free Wi-Fi and lures at the stadiums PokeStop - a welcome distraction in what has been another tough season on the glitter strip.Such a grind it has been that Suns mentor Rodney Eade is no longer bothering with the sort of silver linings optimism coaches usually reach for in an injury crisis, having already exposed almost every single player at the club to AFL football this year.Hall, who injured his hamstring at ttraining on Thursday, just the latest blow for the Suns and he is not expected to return until at least their round 21 clash with Essendon.ddddddddddddI think weve found out enough about the list, to be honest. Its been a bit of a kick in the backside to get these latest injuries, Eade admitted. The Suns beat Fremantle by 26 points back in round two, the second of their three straight wins to open the season, but Eade said circumstances have changed dramatically since then.I think its a clean slate to be honest, he said.I think theres probably 10 changes from our point of view and maybe the same for Freo. Both sides will hand out debuts with Gold Coasts Josh Schoenfeld and mature-aged Fremantle draftee Shane Yarran set to play their first AFL games.WALKING WOUNDED: HOW GOLD COAST AND FREMANTLES SIDELINED STARS WOULD LINE UP TOGETHERB: Henry Schade (GC), Michael Johnson (Fre), Clay Cameron (GC)HB: Adam Saad (GC), Alex Pearce (Fre), Trent McKenzie (GC)C: Jaeger OMeara (GC), Michael Rischitelli (GC), David Swallow (GC)HF: Michael Barlow (Fre), Nathan Fyfe (Fre), Luke Russell (GC)F: Hayden Ballantyne (Fre), Matthew Pavlich (Fre), Harley Bennell (Fre)R: Aaron Sandilands (Fre), Dion Prestia (GC), Gary Ablett (GC)Int: Aaron Hall (GC), Keegan Brooksby (GC), Mackenzie Willis (Fre), Tanner Smith (Fre) ' ' '
