TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Trevor Knight has changed teams, proven hes not a one-game wonder and re-emerged with a national title contender. The Texas A&M quarterback was a redshirt freshman for Oklahoma when he picked apart Alabamas defense in the January 2013 Sugar Bowl and looked every bit the rising star. Now, the top-ranked Crimson Tide, with mostly new players, finally gets another shot at Knight when he leads the sixth-ranked Aggies into Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday in a matchup of the Southeastern Conferences top teams. His career with the Sooners never took off, but Knights doing just fine now. The Sugar Bowl was a stunner at the time even if it seems like ancient history to him.It was a long time ago, Knight said this week. Im not even at the same school anymore. They talk about its me and I guess (Mississippis) Chad Kelly are the two teams that have beaten Alabama but again thats so far in the past that you cant look into that now.Its still noteworthy to reflect on just how good Knight was on that January night in New Orleans against a strong Alabama defense. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops had kept his quarterback a mystery leading up to the game: Would he start Knight or Blake Bell?He chose wisely. Knight wound up passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns to win Sugar Bowl MVP honors and outshine Heisman Trophy runner up AJ McCarron for the 16-point underdogs. His 32 completions set a Sugar Bowl record and was only 15 shy of his total the rest of the season. We won and that was a good feeling, Knight said. Again that was a great game, a long time ago. We came out and played really well and got a win. Thats just another win under our belt back then and I dont think too much (about) it nowadays. He has more pressing matters on his mind. Knight is thriving in coach Kevin Sumlins offense at Texas A&M. He has passed for 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 502 yards and another nine TDs.More importantly, he has guided the Aggies to a 6-0 start and four straight SEC wins. Knight has passed for 200-plus yards and rushed for more than 80 in each of his last three league games.Saban doesnt need to replay the Sugar Bowl to be impressed with Knight.Hes very athletic. Hes very quick, Saban said. Hes a good decision-maker. He makes quick decisions with the ball. He changes angles of throws and gets the ball out of his hands quick on all the (run-pass options), and can extend plays in the passing game when they need him to. This guys a complete player at the position. I thought he was that when we played him before and I think hes even better now. Now, Knight gets his biggest challenge perhaps since that Sugar Bowl. Alabama (7-0, 4-0) has the nations top rushing defense and held Tennessees dual-threat quarterback Joshua Dobbs to 61 yards of total offense in last weekends 49-10 win.Trevor Knight makes all the throws, can run, can hurt you with his legs and his arms, so its definitely going to be a challenge for us, Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson said. The present is whats on the minds of Knight, Sumlin, Saban and Alabama players and what they want to talk about. Sumlin said he hasnt even watched that Sugar Bowl.Storyline is two teams in 2016 who are two Top-10 teams playing to try and win the West, Sumlin said. NEW YORK -- Early in the second set of Andy Murrays win over Marcel Granollers, the chair umpire made a plea to spectators inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. Its quite noisy inside here, if you could please help out and keep the volume down that would help the players, she said. The stadiums new $150 million retractable roof certainly kept out the torrential rain that played havoc with the schedule Thursday afternoon at Flushing Meadows, but it also had an undesirable side effect. When the rain came it was certainly loud, Murray said at a news conference. You cant hear anything, really. You could hear the line calls, but not so much when the opponents hitting the ball or even when youre hitting the ball, really, which is tough purely because were not used to it. Thats what makes it challenging.Murray made a fast start to his 6-4, 6-1, 6-4 victory but struggled to close out the opening set. He lost his serve for the first time at this years tournament at around the time when the rain started lashing the roof with the sound magnified inside the 23,771-seat stadium.Granollers took a fifth break point after a 10-minute game to peg Murray back to 5-4 in the opener, before the Scot took his seventh set point after 12 minutes in the next game.We use our ears when we play. Its not just the eyes, the world No. 2 added. It helps us pick up the speed of the ball, the spin thats on the ball, how hard someones hitting it. If we played with our ears covered or with headphones oon, it would be a big advantage if your opponent wasnt wearing them.dddddddddddd Its tricky. You can still do it, but its harder, for sure.Ive played when its been loud, a lot of the stadiums that have temporary roofs, they can be pretty loud when it rains. But it apparently was raining unbelievably hard outside. It seemed that way anyway.Murray is used to playing under a roof at a Grand Slam -- his status as home favourite saw him finish his matches on time on Centre Court at Wimbledon, while frequent rain delays necessitated play on Middle Sunday for the first time since 2004.The players will deal with it. You get used to stuff. As an athlete, thats what you do, said Murray. We adjust to conditions, different conditions every week. Playing in the day to playing in the night is totally different from one day to the next.We change stuff all of the time, but it takes time to adjust and then get used to that. I think thats why everyone is talking about it now, because its something new. Yeah, its just going to take time to adjust.Im sure if the feedback is that, you know, the TV or the spectators arent enjoying the match as much then they will look into it and try and change it. But if its fine on TV, which from what I have heard it is fine on TV -- I dont know what the fans have said about it yet, but the players will adjust. ' ' '
