Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin has been charged with assault stemming from his late-December arrest during TCUs trip to San Antonio for the Valero Alamo Bowl.?According to Bexar County online court records, Boykin has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor in Texas. The charge could result in up to a year in jail.Boykins arraignment has been set for Aug. 1.Boykin was arrested on Dec. 31 after a late-night incident near a bar in San Antonio. Boykin was suspended for the Alamo Bowl before going undrafted during the 2016 NFL draft.According to the preliminary report from the night of his arrest, Boykin was arrested on a charge of assaulting a police officer, with the arresting officer suffering lacerations to his knees. Boykins agent,?Drew Pittman, indicated in a statement to the Seattle Times that Boykins current charge came as a result of a deal with authorities.Trevone has already agreed to terms with the authorities on a lesser charge, Pittman said in the statement. He has been accountable and remorseful from the beginning. Trevone is looking forward to training camp starting July 30th and to competing for a roster spot. The Seahawks signed Boykin as an undrafted free agent and gave him a $15,000 signing bonus. General manager John Schneider said at the time that the reason Boykin didnt get drafted was because of the incident before the Alamo Bowl.It probably had some effect, but like I said, Ive moved forward, pushed past it and surrounded myself with better people, Boykin said in May. Im doing better things, and Im excited for Coach [Pete] Carroll to call me and bless me with this opportunity. If the season started today, Boykin would be in position to back up starting quarterback?Russell Wilson. Coaches spoke favorably of Boykin throughout the spring, and he took second-team reps during OTAs and minicamp.Tarvaris Jackson remains a free agent and is an option to sign with the Seahawks and back up Wilson again. Gold Coast recruit Nathan Peats is all too aware of the similarity between his arrival at the Titans and that of NRL superstar Jarryd Hayne.Forced out of Parramatta in May as the Eels desperately tried to make themselves salary cap compliant, the 25-year-old was a somewhat reluctant pick-up for the Titans.Four months on and the Eels off-field woes have now played a significant role in the Titans landing dual Dally M medallist Hayne on a lucrative two-year deal.Hayne says he did all he could to return to the Eels - the club he left in 2014 to pursue a career in the NFL in the United States. But without a formal offer and the clubs boardroom in disarray, Hayne took up an offer to join Peats at the Titans.Theres no-one else to blame but Parramatta themselves I guess, Peats told AAP.Ive moved on and Im sure Haynesies probably moved on from it now. Itll probably take him a couple of weeks to settle in here like it did me but youre still getting paid to play footy so its pretty easy to adjust these days.dddddddddddd.Haynes arrival has created an instant buzz on the Gold Coast, with expectations of a 27,400 sellout crowd for Sundays clash with the Warriors which would eclipse the record crowd for the Titans of 27,227 against Brisbane in a 2009 qualifying final.Peats said its important however for the team to not get too distracted by Haynes arrival with the eighth-placed Warriors sitting just one point above the Titans heading into the match. If we lose this week and other teams win we could go to 10th, he said.We cant get too far ahead of ourselves. Its exciting (to have Hayne) but were trying to play it down a bit. Weve still got a job to do this weekend against the Warriors. ' ' '
