CANBERRA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- An Australian Senator on Thursdaydefended her controversial comments she made about how autisticchildren should be removed from mainstream education, claiming theremarks were "completely taken out of context" despite a fiercebacklash from colleagues in Canberra.

"These children should go into a special classroom and be lookedafter and given that special attention," Hanson told theSenate.


"(Other children) are held back by those others, because theteachers spend time with the (autistic children). We have to berealistic at times and consider the impact this is having on otherchildren in the classroom."
