But it’s a new season, and a new hope. Starting tomorrow.Let’s take one last look back. What did we learn from Spring Training? Did the Astros Spring Training make you feel less or more optimistic about the coming season? Why?Tell us below. Here are a few observations of my own, just to get the conversation started. Carlos Correa looked like a new man, recovered from his back injury and swinging with aggression we never saw last year. I expect a big season. Of course, as I say this, Carlos may miss Opening Day with a “stiff neck.”Geez.Forrest Whitley looked dominant at times, and maybe it’s just bad luck Wilson Ramos Jersey , but he also gave up three home runs in 15 innings. With just 26 innings pitched in AA it looks like he still needs a little more seasoning in the Minors before he’s ready for the Bigs.Nick Tanielu played well enough to “play his way” onto a lot of clubs that won fewer than 100 games last year by his performance this Spring. It’s not just the 18 hits in 51 AB’s, the six doubles and 5 home runs, but the consistency. Throughout Spring Training his OPS never dropped below 1.200, and he only had 6 strike outs. If he stays hot in AAA, and if a player or two goes down, just maybe he’ll get a chance to prove himselfagainst the best. There were other hot bats waiting for someone to falter; Myles Straw, Derek Fisher, Garrett Stubbs. And some others who need to hit much better in the regular season than they did this Spring; Aledmys Diaz, Tyler White, Max Stassi. What will the roster look like in May?What if Tony Kemp and Jake Marisnick continue like they have this Spring? Who’s odd man out when the pitching staff expands to 13?Or when Kyle Tucker forces his way up? If he does. Was Tucker’s rather weak Spring too reminiscent of his play in the Big Leagues last season? There’s more to say. Tell us what you think. Who else surprised you? Who disappointed? What did you learn from the 2019 Spring Training? Yes, many struggled last year, but ups and downs are a natural things for pitchers, particularly at Coors Field. Thus, although Wade Davis, Bryan Shaw, and Jake McGee fought a losing battle on the mound last year, they can still come back and redeem themselves. The Rockies are also excited about Chris Rusin in the 2019 season. He has always been a consistent pitcher, and the Rockies hope that he can prove to be consistently great. The lefty could be the middle reliever to help the Rockies close games in the new season. Colorado Rockies: Changes coming to baseball in the near future? | Rox Pile There have recently been some rumors about proposals for changes in the MLB. One of these is putting the DL stint back to fifteen days from the trial ten days it’s been for the last two years. In some conjunction with this Blake Snell Jersey , they are thinking of upping optioning to the minor league from ten to fifteen days. These strategies are an attempt to reduce the use of relief pitchers. Another rumored plan is to have a pitch clock. The changes aren’t likely to happen this year, with time being so short, but we might see them in the near future. Hoffman seeing uptick in velo, vying for rotation | Rockies.comJeff Hoffman had a very quiet season last year. He was frequently overlooked following an injury that sent him to the minor leagues. He’s been working out in the offseason, and has subsequently seen an increased velocity in his pitching. The question remains if he will earn his way into the rotation. He’s got the athletic potential, and combined with the workouts, he’s been working on his mental game, which, as we’ve seen with Jon Gray, is a crucial part of pitching. He claims he’s focused on his performance, and it would be fantastic for the rotation to gain another consistent deliverer. Nolan Arenado Rob Refsnyder Jersey , Rockies likely headed toward salary arbitration hearing next month | Denver Post ($)Spring training is right around the corner, and it’s looking more and more like the Rockies will have to enter arbitration with Nolan Arenado for his salary for the 2019 season. Arenado was looking for $30 million, but the Rockies came back with $24 million. They’ll likely settle somewhere in the middle, with Arenado breaking the arbitration record. The Rockies want to keep Arenado in Denver, and it seems like Arenado is willing to do so, but it’ll come down to what kind of deal they can all work out.
