Today was also the Broncos first afternoon Training Camp practice of the summer. With the late start, it was a hot one for the Today we have Emmanuel Sanders returning to action on a limited basis, Trinity Benson continuing to turn some heads, safety Justin Simmons continuing to showcase his abilities, injury updates, quotes, and more!Emmanuel Sanders takes part in 7-on-7’s for the first timeFor this first-time since suffering an achilles late last season against the Bengals, veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders returned to practice on a limited basis. Before, he was just doing some work during individual drills but today Drew Lock Denver Broncos Jersey , he took part in some 7-on-7 action today. In typical Sanders fashion, he made a highlight reel catch where he ended up diving for the ball. After the catch, Sanders told reporters that he said “I’m back baby!” after making the catch.Head Coach Vic Fangio told reporters after practice that Sanders will take anywhere from four to six players in 7-on-7 drills early one before starting to do more and more as time goes on.It is a good sign for the Broncos and Sanders that he is able to start the process this early. Most teams started their Training Camps today or tomorrow so Sanders is on your regular schedule to get ready by week one. I have no doubts that Sanders won’t be good to go come week one. The Broncos need Sanders to return to his usual form for this offense to find success in 2019. The signs early appear that he’s on track to doing just that but time will only tell. Trinity Benson continues to be a name to watchOne name that continues to be mentioned a lot after each Training Camp practice is undrafted rookie wide receiver, Trinity Benson. With DaeSean Hamilton leaving practice early, this allowed Benson to receive some more first-team reps. Veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders was asked about Benson’s play early on and he told reporters that he reminds him of himself when he was younger.Pretty high praise from the Broncos veteran wide receiver on Benson. He like Benson entered the league a little light, pretty raw, and with a good amount of speed. So I can see where he made this comparison. If the Broncos get another Emmanuel Sanders in Benson, that will be yet another major UDFA steal for them.Benson still appears to be the leader for the final wide receiver/returner job for the Broncos. If his strong camp continues and he has himself a good preseason, he appears destined for a spot on the 53-man roster. A spot on the 10-man Practice Squad at the very least is also in play for Benson if they decide to keep Langley or someone else instead. Justin Simmons continues to have a solid campOne player who many assume will have a breakout year under Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell is safety Drew Lock Jersey 2019 , Justin Simmons. The system the two are installing fits his skill sets better and he should become a difference maker at the back end of the defense. Well, if the early results from camp are any indication of what is to come, then Simmons is about to have a breakout year.During today’s practice, Simmons came up with yet another interception. This time off a Joe Flacco overthrow that hit him right in the numbers. The safety play in Fangio’s defenses are always key. Last season in Chicago he had safeties Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos at the back end of that number one ranked defense. He’s hoping that Simmons can evolve into the type of player that Jackson turned into under his and Donatell’s watch. Again, the early indications are promising for both sides.Simmons is entering the final year of his rookie deal so it is a bit of a make or break year for him with the Broncos. I have been always a fan of his skill set so hopefully he can be used correctly and put up big numbers and earn himself a new contract from the Broncos. Injury reportThe oft-injured Jake Butt continues to miss practice. Rookie wide receiver Juwann Winfree sat out practice today but sounds like close to returning. Fangio said after practice that he thinks that he will be back for tomorrows practice. DaeSean Hamilton left practice with what appeared to be a tweak to his hamstring. Head Coach Vic Fangio confirmed the injury after practice. Wide receiver River Cracraft remained sidelined with a muscle injury.Linebacker Todd Davis also remained sidelined with a calf injury. I think the offense we ran last year and this year are two totally different offenses. This offseason that was one big thing I wanted to work on was being able to run every route on the route tree. I thought last year—I said that I was able to run every route on the route tree but going back and watching the film there were a lot of tells that I was giving away that made it hard for me to run those routes on the tree. I really worked on being able to run all the intermediate routes, that I wouldn’t just be a guy that’s known for going deep on the outside. That’s still something I have in my arsenal, but I want to be able to run all those routes so that it can set up those big-shot plays. So Drew Lock Jersey Black , I do appreciate Coach Rich [Scangarello] giving me those opportunities to go out there and fine-tune my craft and be able to show that I can run all those intermediate routes and get those first downs, keep the chains moving. Without it just being a deep post, deep go, or something like that.” The Broncos took Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick in last year’s draft with the hope that he’d join Von Miller in making the team’s pass rush a bear for opposing offenses to handle.Chubb produced 12 sacks as a rookie, which would seem to be in line with those hopes. The team is looking for even more out of Chubb now that he has a year of NFL experience under his belt, however.General Manager John Elway said he’s “sure we’ll see a big jump” from Chubb in 2019 and head coach Vic Fangio had a similar take on the expectations for this year.“For him to make a big jump and improve from Year 1 to Year 2,” Fangio said, via Nicki Jhabvala of TheAthletic.com. “I think he’s very capable of that. He’s got versatility. He could play outside backer like everybody knows in the nickel. He’s a guy you can sink down inside and play some as a D-lineman. I’m anxious to work with him and see how versatile he might be.”Fangio has also said that he believes Miller can do more and hitting on both fronts would make for a tough defense in Denver.
