He is a 6’4” 228 pound quarterback who is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the entire draft. Lock is ranked as the third-best quarterback prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft and is ranked as the 54th overall prospect according to The Draft Network.Lock played four seasons at Missouri and was a four-year starter for them during his college career there and he improved each and every season while there. During his four-year career at Missouri, Lock totaled 12,193 yards passing, 99 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. He completed 56.9% of his passes and also rushed for 437 career yards and total 9 career rushing touchdowns. This past season for Missouri, Lock totaled 3,498 yards passing, 28 touchdowns, 8 interceptions and completed 62.9% of his passes. A pretty solid senior season for the potential first-round pick. At the Senior Bowl is was being widely spread that the Broncos and General Manager John Elway was in love with Drew Lock. There were even reports/rumors that the Broncos have been doing their homework on Lock as well. Now all of this was before they acquired quarterback Joe Flacco, but I am willing to bet his acquisition didn’t change much on Lock.If the Broncos are looking for their quarterback of the future in this draft then Lock should be their guy. He fits best in a vertical passing offense, something the Broncos plan on having under Rich Scangarello. So it makes a ton of sense schematically and he is really the only top prospect in this draft who fits that mold.Also, Rich Scangarello’s presence is key here. He was brought in to do two things for the Broncos. One was to implement the zone-blocking scheme that flourished in Denver before and the other was to develop a young quarterback into a starter. His work with Nick Mullens is what made his coaching stock grow and San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan has vouched for his former coach countless times. So to see what he can do with a talented prospect like Lock is intriguing. In the end, I am on the fence about this potential selection. If it were to happen I would buy in to his potential and development into a starting quarterback. If they decided to pass on Lock I would be relieved because he’s such a boom or bust prospect.
