doughnuts at his desk on Monday morning as a reward for shutting out Arizona 34-0.The treats have become a tradition for Phillips when his defense keeps the opposition scoreless http://www.ramsfootballauthentics.com/aaron-donald-jersey-authentic , one that has even extended to West Sioux High School in Hawarden, Iowa, as the Falcons let Phillips know on Twitter this week after their varsity and junior varsity teams each recorded shutouts.Earning another box of doughnuts this week will be a much more difficult task when the Rams host quarterback Philip Rivers and the Chargers on Sunday.Phillips was the defensive coordinator in San Diego when the Chargers drafted Rivers in 2004. Now in his 14th season starting for the Chargers, Rivers is the same savvy player Phillips remembers working with in the Senior Bowl at the start of the evaluation process."You can't fool him," Phillips said Thursday. "He's going to know what you are in, and that's where he excels over most quarterbacks and makes him an elite quarterback."Any kind of blitz you run, he'll audible to the right protection, all those things. He basically throws to the weakness of the defense on every play. He's been doing that for a long time and he continues to do that."Rivers' understanding of defenses negates some of the advantage Phillips' tactical acumen provides and puts more pressure on Rams players to win their one-on-one matchups.Phillips hopes his defensive front can take advantage of a Chargers offensive line that will be without right tackle Joe Barksdale because of a knee injury, allowing the secondary to keep Rivers, who has completed 73.1 percent of his passes for 680 yards and six touchdowns with one interception, in check. While the defensive line of Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers have combined for one sack through two games, Phillips is largely pleased with how they are performing.Phillips said the trio is creating pressure, but Cardinals quarterback Sam Bradford and Oakland's Derek Carr were effective in throwing the ball quickly to prevent sacks.Phillips is also getting contributions from outside linebackers Samson Ebukam, Dominique Easley and Matt Longacre. Ebukam brought down Bradford for the Rams' second sack of the season Womens Lamarcus Joyner Jersey , and Easley drew a holding penalty.Knowing that Rivers will be more willing to test the Rams with a vertical passing game than their first two opponents, Phillips hopes his pass rush will be able to impose themselves more forcefully."He's like every quarterback that gets a lot of pressure, it's going to be tougher for him," Phillips said. "Sometimes those windows are down the field and take some time. If we get in the right defenses where he has to throw down the field and we get some pressure, then it's an advantage for us."The Rams had the edge against Arizona, limiting them to 137 yards and five first downs. The defense has not allowed a point in six consecutive quarters, but Brockers said the streak has not been a factor in their performance."We haven't really focused on the 'oh man, let's keep them scoreless,'" Brockers said. "We just going out there to execute. If we execute the calls, coaches feel like they should get anything, and that's what's been happening."Instead, Phillips believes the quality of Rivers and the Chargers offense has been the best motivation for the Rams this week."I think them having such a prolific offense, it's not as hard to say 'these guys can really play' because you can see it on the film," Phillips said. "That challenge for good players and guys that want to be good players, they want to play against somebody that is a challenge. And this is going to be a huge challenge."If it leads to more doughnuts http://www.ramsfootballauthentics.com/john-johnson-jersey-authentic , Phillips will take it."They're hard to come by, those zeros in this league are hard to come by," Phillips said. "I haven't had very many in my career, and I've had a long career. It's an accomplishment, no matter who you are playing, to hold somebody to zero in this league."NOTES: C John Sullivan (ankle) did not practice, and Brockers (shoulder) was limited. However, coach Sean McVay expects both Sullivan and Brockers to play this week. "It's more just maintenance with these guys," McVay said.Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks: Stock up, stock down The Los Angeles Rams head home after a tough divisional battle versus their rivals in the Seattle Seahawks.Closing the game out on a quarterback sneak, the Rams remain unbeaten at 5-0 and continued to widen their division lead.Stock DownCB Marcus PetersPeters was absolutely horrible in this game, there’s no two-ways about it. Peters was toasted multiple times for touchdowns as he proved his eyes continue to be the aspect of his game with which you have to live and die with. One can argue that he might have been hurt or not 100% fit to play, but the issues last night did not revolve around his feet - they revolved around his eyes. For a team who invested a ton into the secondary, they need to do a MUCH better job moving forward (not just Peters).Pass rushThe Rams’ pass rush had two sacks in the game (Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh) but were invisible for majority of the game. Russell Wilson was given all the time in the world which is surprising because the Seahawks are not known to have a good offensive line. The edge rushers in Samson Ebukam, Matt Longacre Youth Ndamukong Suh Jersey , and John Franklin-Myers need to find a way to be much more productive. Not only that, but more is needed from maybe the leagues best interior trio too.Run defenseThe Seahawks had 190 rushing yards with three players (Chris Carson, Mike Davis, Tyler Lockett) all averaging over 5.6 yards per carry. Not good. Now, Carson is a tough runner with an awesome combination of speed and power, but the Rams simply need to do better. They need to be more aggressive and physical at the point of attack up front, and the linebackers need to wrap up better.Stock UpWR Cooper KuppPrior to getting knocked out of the game by way of a concussion, Cooper Kupp simply looked unstoppable. In the first half he managed to register six receptions for 90 yards and one touchdown. Every week a different wide receiver is capable of stepping up and shouldering the work load, and this week was Kupp’s. The dependability that QB Jared Goff and Kupp have developed within each other is quite evident.K Cairo SantosSome may not think Santos belongs here, but I think he does. His missed extra point was awful and put the Rams in a really bad position for sure, but his ability to bounce back from that awful miss and kick the field goal that eventually won the game was impressive. Santos looked comfortable in general (outside of kickoff duties).WR Robert WoodsWoods was tremendous again yesterday with five receptions on seven targets for 92 yards. Woods’ route running ability was putting the Seahawks’ defensive backs in a daze, and he racked up a ton of yards-after-catch as Goff delivered some accurate balls that allowed Woods to never break stride. Rob was huge in continuing the offensive production in the second half when his running mates were knocked out by injuries.ILB Mark BarronIn his return, Barron looked awesome. There were a few instances where his physicality and speed were evident. Barron ensures that ball carriers near/around him are going to feel his impact. Having the speed and coverage ability that Barron does allows the Rams to use Cory Littleton in a manner closer to what Alec Ogletree did for the defense last year.WR’s Josh Reynolds and KhaDarel HodgeGood on these young guys for stepping in and ensuring the offense didn’t come to a halt after two awful injuries. Reynolds made his impact right away with two receptions for 39 yards and a 10-yard end around. Meanwhile, the practice squad call up from a few weeks prior in Hodge also got on the board with a reception for 14 yards (was a great catch) and showed his ability to block. The Rams remain unbeaten at 5-0 and look to continue the streak with a struggling Denver Broncos team in week six.
