Thermosense Thermometer The mercury thermometer is perused when brought back at hand. After remedies for scale blunders and for the little change in perusing because of any contrast between the in situ temperature and that at hand, the turning around thermometer yields water temperature to a precision of about ±0.02 K in routine use. This last remedy is made conceivable by the nearness of an "assistant" thermometer corresponding to the turning around thermometer in the equivalent encased glass lodging. The helper thermometer detects the surrounding deck temperature, which is then used to address the turning around thermometer for the temperature on the boat when it is perused. Ordinary practice is for every thermometer (switching and helper) to be perused twice by two unique people utilizing a magnifying instrument focal point (Figure S16.14).
